Right now we’re supposed to be in North Carolina visiting Jeff’s Aunt Cathy & Uncle Gard (**it was going to be an enmeshed family trip in our minivan — that would have definitely earned a rather long blog entry - sorry that the world will have to miss out on that one) ~~
But wouldn’t you know it that Liesl came down with a mysterious-viral-something that gave her huge hives yesterday and a steamy fever since then… So plans changed and Jeff, Liesl & I stayed home under quarantine for the weekend.
What did we do with unexpected free time at home today? (the best kind of free time because there is nothing planed to make it NOT free time)
- Liesl layed around most of the day, with random bouts of activity
- I was Liesl’s human couch and her personal chef with expansive menu items like toast, scrambled eggs and ziti (not all at once)
- Liesl and I took a marathon nap, which is normal for her but NOT normal for me. Now I can expect to be wide awake until 1:00AM…
- Jeff was able to actually work at his desk here at the house because it was quiet
- We went for a lovely walk on the Oella Trolley Trail after dinner and stopped at Rita’s on the way home for custard.
- Right now Jeff and I are actually watching a movie (well, as you can see, I’m sort of watching a movie). We’re home alone for the first time since we moved here 4 months ago.
By the end of tomorrow we may actually be unwound. Think of it: two whole unexpected & unscheduled days…

sorry liesl got sick…but glad that you all have some time just the 4 of you to chill. it has been really crazy here the last few days, but we have the apt. and the Prague Team is here to help us put our furniture together! Lets i-chat maybe Sun. eve!
Love to you all!
There couldn’t be two more diametrically opposed weekends than the one you are having and the one the Hunters are having! I’d prefer yours any day although the Hunters IS exciting. Enjoy the rest!
I know. Assembling IKEA furniture is about as far from anything I’d like to do right now…
wait, where is your son? i thought you had a son?
he wanted to go to NC w/Jeff’s parents… so we let him!
As sorry as we are that you didn’t make it, we KNOW you enjoyed your solitude…..even with a babe who wasn’t feeling well it had to be relaxing…..Ewan was an absolute joy to have with us and his grandparents were a treat. UG and I have been waiting and waiting to get them here so it feels kinda strange that they’ve been and gone! Prepare - they are headed back! Ewan had a large grin on his face while playing with AJ - their minds were on the same wave length - and their imaginations were superb! They were policemen, puppies and olympic swimmers! Hope we can have your smiling faces here at some point too - can’t wait to see what Liesl and Joseph will do together…..
Ahhhh, peaceful alone time…something we (who are not living with in-laws or any other form of extended family) totally take for granted. I hope you had a great weekend!
sounds like a nice weekend. I’m glad you guys were able to have some down time.
Let’s see, home alone with significant other, no parents… sure your watching a movie.
